Clubs in roller derby are called leagues. These are the Facebook event feeds of the Dutch roller derby leagues:
The Parliament of Pain, The Hague
Rotterdam Roller Derby, Rotterdam (formerly: Rotterdam Death Row Honeys)
Black Sheep Honey Rollers, Middelburg
Roller Derby Breda, Breda (formerly: Suck City Rock ‘n’ Roller Dolls)
Dom City Roller Derby, Utrecht (formerly: Dom City Dolls)
Amsterdam Roller Derby, Amsterdam (formerly: Amsterdam Derby Dames)
Roller Derby Groningen, Groningen (formerly: Northern Lightning Roller Girls / Roaring Thunder Men’s Derby)
Roller Derby Twente, Enschede (formerly: East Side Rock ‘n Rollers)
Arnhem Fallen Angels, Arnhem
Roadkill Rollers, Nijmegen
Rockcity Rollers, Eindhoven
Pink Peril, Heerlen
… and a couple of easy-to-travel-to Belgian ones:
Holy Wheels Menace, Liège, event page currently unavailable
Les Vî Kings, Liège, event page currently unavailable
Antwerp Roller Derby, Antwerp (formerly One Love Roller Dolls)
As far as I am aware there are no active roller derby leagues in the Netherlands that post their events exclusively outside of Facebook (although there may be one or two leagues who first post to their website or have other primary ways to communicate events). In most cases the first I am able to hear about an event is through a league’s Facebook page.
Discontinued leagues
Rotten Rebels, Dordrecht (discontinued 9 April 2017)
The Pirate Pack, Friesland (discontinued 12 November 2016)
Name changes
Over the past 15 years or so, a number of leagues have changed their names for various reasons, often following the pattern of COOL PUN to “Roller Derby” NAME OF CITY.
The old name often survives as the name of their A-team. E.g. Rotterdam Death Row Honeys became Rotterdam Roller Derby, but their A-team is called Rotterdam Death Row Honeys.
And who knows, maybe I am even mistaken in calling these ‘name changes’; leagues that only have one team do not really need to distinguish between the league and the team anyway.
In the interest of both history and completeness (i.e. you knew a league and wonder where the disappeared to) I will try and list the former names here based on my own memories (see the list of leagues above).
