This 'event' exists to indicate that the calendar is not broken – roller derby leagues simply do not often play during the summer months. When they do (and assuming I know about it), I will of course post about it here.

Roller Derby Disco i.s.m. Arnhem Fallen Angels
Holy moly! Aansluitend op hun Spring Fling Scrimmage organiseren de Arnhem Fallen Angels een heuse Roller Derby Disco in Café Kroon. En iedereen is welkom! Dat wordt een partijtje vet!
Arnhem Fallen Angels is opgericht in april 2011 en dé club van Arnhem en omstreken die 'flat track roller derby' beoefent. Wablief? Dat is een nogal pittige, maar geweldig toffe contactsport op rolschaatsen waarbij twee teams van vijf skaters tegen elkaar strijden. Zondagmiddag 16 maart is er een voorjaarstoernooi in Sporthal Elderveld. En aansluitend kan iedereen met z'n skates los op de dansvloer van Café Kroon. Ook als je niet hebt meegedaan ben je van harte welkom, met of zonder je eigen skates. Dus dat belooft een geweldig feestje te worden!
Voor wie Café Kroon nog niet kent: Kroon is - zoals de naam al zegt - een café en géén sporthal. Dus hier wordt meteen het wereldrecord gelegd voor de allerkleinste locatie waar ooit een roller disco heeft plaatsgevonden. Maar hey: de sfeer is goed, de muziek wordt vet, er is drank tot aan de horizon en met een beetje lekker weer kun je ook buiten lekker los.
Dus: tot zondag de 16e bij Café Kroon!
PS: Als je met de auto uit Elderveld komt, parkeer dan in de parking achter de MediaMarkt. Scheelt je een boel gedoe en is lekker dichtbij (ca. 2 minuten lopen of 30 seconden skaten)
Roller Derby Groningen Home Event
On December 10th, Roller Derby Groningen is organizing their home event!
This is a double header; the first game will be RDG - TBA. The second game is an open scrimmage.
Schedule:
- Doors open for spectators: 13:00
- First game (RDG vs. TBA): 13:30 -15:00
- Second game (open scrimmage): 16:00 - 17:30
- Hall closes for spectators 18:00

Summer break 2022 or … the after-effects of Covid-19?
At the time of writing there are no roller derby events planned in the Netherlands. Normally I would chalk this up to the traditional summer breaks of roller derby, but leagues started playing later in the season, and I do not know if that influenced the start and duration of the summer breaks.
As you can see in the chart below, the first 6 months of 2022 saw as much roller derby action as the first 2 months of 2020. Maybe the leagues need more time to rebuild and recover?

Summer break, return to play and COVID-19
Traditionally the roller derby summer break in the Netherlands runs from approximately mid-July until the end of August. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, no events had been scheduled between May and July anyway.
Depending on all kinds of factors, leagues may resume play, including public events, as soon as September, although I am currently not aware of any planned public games.
Cancellations due to coronavirus COVID-19
Many of the events currently listed on rollerderbyevents.nl will not go through because of one or more of the following reasons:
- The Dutch government has cancelled all events
with 100 or more participants and audience membersuntil 1 september. - Local governments have shut down their sports venues.
- A roller derby event often takes weeks if not months to prepare.
- It is the right thing to do.
I will try and list the events below as cancelled when I know the league has explicitly cancelled them.
As always, rollerderbyevents.nl is not the canonical source for roller derby events in the Netherlands — in order to know for sure which events are taking place when, you need to consult the individual leagues.
If you see an event here listed as not cancelled while COVID-19 is still spreading, make sure you double check with the league.

For anyone interested in roller derby, who is curious and wants to come and watch. For those that are already playing and want to gain more scrimmage experience. Or for those who want to improve their skills as an official. We now have our monthly open scrimmage training.
During this scrimmage training we will play a full roller derby scrimmage. Which means 2x 30 minutes of roller derby.
Open for audience to watch from the side.
Open for all MST passed skaters to join the game.
Open for all NSOs and Reff’s (also beginners) to gain more officiating experience.

Join Chicks in Bowls for pizza & roller skating madness! This time in Real-X skatepark Apeldoorn. This event is for all levels of roller skaters. New to the skatepark? Join our beginner class at 18.30 to get started with pumping, carving, jumping, drop-ins and toe stop stalls.
Show your skills at the bowl contest! We will have prizes for different levels and categories so everyone can join. Remember; the best skater out there is the one with the most fun!

Antwerp Roller Derby presents Ramp Camp
Calling all (aspiring) park and street skaters!
Join us as we celebrate ARD's ninth birthday with this awesome Ramp Camp. On March 23 we will have Fitopia's skate hall all to ourselves.
During the first hour of Ramp Camp we will organise a beginners workshop to explain all the basics of park skating: from pumping and dropping in, to jumps and slides on street obstacles. Afterwards, you can put your newly acquired skills to the test for another 2 hours, while we give you some individual tips and tricks. Don't worry, you can also take a break and buy a yummy (veggie) hot dog (€2) while already thinking about your next big trick!
All lessons will be given by our very own Mira Goedert, you might know her as the jammer 8-bit on the track!
19h - 20h : Ramp camp beginners workshop
20h - 22h : Free skate with intermediate/advanced tips and tricks
Price: 10 Euro
This includes skate park entrance and the beginners workshop. If you're not interested in this workshop, feel free to join us anyway and skate your heart out for the full 3 hours. 🙂
